Hello Parents!
We are so glad to welcome you to a new year of Religious Education at UUCC! If you are seeing this email, you have a child registered in the Windows & Mirrors class. You will see all the announcements about RE here or in the general RE news.
What’s Windows & Mirrors all about?
We welcome your nine and ten year olds to a curious and thought-provoking environment. This year is all about helping your child build community at UUCC. Our teachers are Eric Bone and Ashley Briggs at 9 am and Jing Wang, Deb Baysinger, Jim Gold, Margaret Gessel at 11 am. We need additional teachers for the 9 am class; please consider volunteering for this class (or another if your child does better without you in class!)
The metaphor of windows and mirrors represents the dynamic relationship among our awareness of self, our perceptions of others, and others’ perceptions of us. Windows and Mirrors nurtures children’s ability to identify their own experiences and perspectives and to seek out, care about and respect those of others. The sessions unpack topics that lend themselves to diverse experiences and perspectives—for example, faith heritage, public service, anti-racism and prayer. The program teaches that there are always multiple viewpoints and everyone’s viewpoint matters. You will receive a short note each week with some information about what your children discovered, so that you can expand the ideas at home all week!
Sunday school classes start on September 17th!
And remember; say hi to someone new each day this week, as part of our month of Welcoming!
