Warm Welcome Shelter Update

Warm Welcome Shelter Update

Thank you to all who have donated and signed up to volunteer so far to support this year’s Warm Welcome Shelter. Plans for January have shifted due to unforeseen circumstances, and so we have an update for you.

Contractors have not finished necessary work at Grassroots Day Resource Center, and so the Warm Welcome Shelter will continue to be located at Extended Stay America through at least February 5. UUCC’s coordinator Paula Nagy will soon be adjusting both the volunteer SignUpGenius and donation SignUpGenius to reflect that we will now only need 3 to 4 volunteers each night to deliver three catered meals to guests at Extended Stay America between 5:30 and 6 PM.

Donations of toiletries are welcome, and you can place them in the black and yellow OBIC Interfaith Collective box outside the UUCC office. If you’ve already purchased food donations, you can place them in the box as well; those will still be donated to Grassroots and shelter guests.

As a result of these shifts, our catering costs are going from $14 per person per day to $18 per person per day, so monetary donations are welcomed and encouraged. If you wish you to make a monetary contribution visit our Realm online giving page, select “donation” from the drop-down menu, and write “Warm Welcome Shelter” in the memo line. Any donations remaining after the costs of the week of Warm Welcome Shelter will be donated directly to Grassroots.

Thank you for supporting this year’s Warm Welcome Shelter!
