The Lines Between Us: Two Families and a Quest to Cross Baltimore’s Racial Divide

By Lawrence Lanahan

Join us for a six-part discussion series exploring regional housing inequality in the Baltimore region.

We’ll be reading local journalist Lawrence Lanahan’s The Lines Between Us: Two Families and a Quest to Cross Baltimore’s Racial Divide, published in 2019. Among many interesting narrative strands, the book follows a family as they battle a system of interconnected barriers preventing their pursuit of affordable housing in Columbia.

This book discussion will be of particular interest for those who move between Columbia and Baltimore City on a regular basis—for those who live in one place and work/worship/play in the other.

We’ll meet at 7pm via Zoom on the following Thursdays:

  • July 30
  • August 13
  • August 27
  • September 10
  • September 24
  • October 8

RSVP to Valerie if you’d like to be part of the discussion! Details (including a schedule of reading and discussion) will be sent at a later date to those who RSVP.

Purchase the book from the following independent sellers
