Memorial Day Camping Trip Recap

Memorial Day Camping Trip Recap

A group of about 50 congregants went camping at Rocky Gap over Memorial Day weekend. There were lots of wonderful community building activities planned by Lee Gelwicks, Prabhas Pokharel, and Colette Gelwicks including a hike, potluck, art activities (including a service project of decorating wood hearts will be made into magnets to hand out as gifts at this October’s HoCo Pride), worship service, and much more.

It downpoured and the children ran in the rain and got very muddy; they enjoyed making mud pies and trying to trick their parents into muddy embraces. Sunday night ended with a very powerful thunderstorm that took out the power in the whole campground, but everyone remained safe as UUCCers with cabins opened their doors to any of our tent campers who needed a place to get dry. Thank you to Colette for sharing  photos, some of which you can check out below.

We hope to see you on Sunday, July 21 at 10am for our “Camping as a Spiritual Practice” worship service where you’ll hear way more about our time camping together, and perhaps decide this trip is for you next year!
